thank you. i always like the back of orchids because of its color change. for example, white orchids started from green buds change to yellow... then become white. other color also changes from bud to flower. so, back side always has an evidence of that beautiful transitions. i am glad you like it.
I wish more people saw beauty in the small things in life. I too love orchids, but those I photograph are Australian native orchids and very different to those you photograph.
most orchids i have photographed were came from Brazil. i agree with you. some of them are gorgeous. but i had a hard time to get something i like. here is what i have experienced.
i was asked to photograph orchids about a year and half ago. i used to photograph only cars and models in the united states, so i thoght "photographing flowers??" at the first time. that was how i started orchid garden series.
to capture something beautiful, i have to SEE IT BEAUTIFUL by myself. so i brought some orchids in my office and grow them. spending a time with flowers are like spending a time with my pets. feed (water) them, and check them if they have anything wrong. now i know something i may not need to know... how to keep office temperature warmer in winter even afte i went home <<< never need as a photographer, but i needed to know to grow it.
by doing this, i found a lot. some orchid looks very nice in a rainny day. some look gorgeous when it gets sunlight from the back.... and i just photographed whenever i felt nice about them. sometimes it is good to show only beautiful part insted of showing entire shape, sometimes overexposure gives me incredible result, sometimes extreme angle enhance its beauty..... i spent more than one year without getting satisfactory result, and still finding something more exciting right now.i think more time we spend, more we can discover something.
